Wendy's story and the farewell

1 Peter tells of his barred window as the boys and the Darlings close round him in fright

2 Tootles rises to his full height and shields Wendy with his drawn hanger

3 Peter lifts his chin and forces a smile as he refuses Wendy's plea

4 A brisk, cheery handshake takes the place of a kiss, and the girl's hand answers it limply.

5 Underground, Wendy and the children freeze, arms out to Peter, as steel clashes overhead
