Copyright and DMCA Policy
Last updated: October 21, 2026
AuthorCat LLC ("we", "us") respects the rights of authors, artists, and publishers, and expects the people who use our services to do the same. This policy applies to all of our services: the AuthorCAT website and app (authorcat.com), AuthorCAT Bridge, AuthorCAT: Story Planner, and the ImaginCAT library and app (imagincat.com).
We respond to notices of claimed copyright infringement under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, 17 U.S.C. § 512 ("DMCA").

How to send a notice
If you believe that material on our services infringes a copyright you own or control, send a written notice to our designated agent that includes:
- your physical or electronic signature (a typed full name is enough for an electronic signature);
- identification of the copyrighted work you believe is infringed (or, for several works, a representative list);
- identification of the material you believe is infringing, with enough detail for us to find it — for example, a link (URL), a book title, or a screenshot showing where it appears;
- your name, postal address, telephone number, and email address;
- a statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use of the material is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law; and
- a statement that the information in your notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are the copyright owner or are authorized to act on the owner's behalf.
When we receive a valid notice, we will promptly remove or disable access to the material and let the user who provided it know.
Please note: books and illustrations in the ImaginCAT library are based on works in the public domain in the United States. Illustrations are created by us with the help of artificial-intelligence tools. If you believe a specific title is still protected, tell us which one and why, and we will review it.
Counter-notice
If material you provided was removed and you believe this was a mistake or a misidentification, you may send a counter-notice to our designated agent that includes:
- your physical or electronic signature;
- identification of the material that was removed and where it appeared before removal;
- a statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good-faith belief that the material was removed or disabled as a result of mistake or misidentification;
- your name, address, and telephone number, and a statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the Federal District Court for the judicial district in which your address is located (or, if your address is outside the United States, any judicial district in which AuthorCat LLC may be found), and that you will accept service of process from the person who sent the original notice or that person's agent.
We will send a copy of your counter-notice to the person who sent the original notice. Unless that person tells us that they have filed a court action against you, we will restore the material in 10 to 14 business days after we receive your counter-notice.
Repeat infringers
We will, in appropriate circumstances, disable or close the accounts of users who repeatedly infringe copyrights.
Misrepresentations
Under 17 U.S.C. § 512(f), anyone who knowingly and materially misrepresents that material is infringing, or that it was removed by mistake, may be liable for damages, including costs and attorneys' fees. If you are not sure whether material infringes your rights, consider consulting a lawyer before sending a notice.
