Oz exposed as a humbug

Dorothy and her friends huddle just inside the door of the vast emerald Throne Room, finding only an empty throne and a dreadful stillness.

The Cowardly Lion roars in the Throne Room, making Toto leap and the screen tip over

The fallen screen reveals the "terrible" Oz as a small, trembling bald old man, his palms raised before the Tin Woodman's lifted axe while the astonished travelers crowd close.

In the small back chamber, Oz spreads his hands in apology before the stern little girl and her downcast friends, confessing he is a good man but a bad Wizard.

Oz promises the Scarecrow brains tomorrow, and the straw man flings his arms wide

The four friends and Toto walk lightly out of the small back chamber toward the glowing doorway, hopeful after the confession.
